NIHR conducts an on-site inspection of the Correction and Rehabilitation Center located in Jau
In response to social media monitoring and a complaint received by the Call and Complaints Center at the National Institution for Human Rights regarding subpar drinking water quality at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center in Jau, a delegation from NIHR conducted an on-site inspection. The objective was to evaluate all facilities and assess the cleanliness and quality of the drinking water.
During the visit, interviews were conducted with the personnel responsible for the center, who explained that they had identified and resolved the issues causing the water quality problem. They further assured that comprehensive measures and procedures had been implemented to guarantee water quality.
NIHR reiterates its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights of all individuals, particularly inmates in correctional and rehabilitation centers or pretrial detention facilities. The goal is to ensure their enjoyment of rights outlined in national legislation and pertinent international standards. NIHR will collaborate with relevant authorities to determine optimal strategies for addressing and enhancing the quality of services provided.
